Master Technician / Lead Technician / A-Tech
A Master Technician is primarily responsible for conducting a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs; including but not limited to drivability, brakes, emissions, steering and suspension, electrical, maintenance services, HVAC, starting and charging, and major engine repairs.
As a Master Technician, you must have the mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose and repair a variety of different makes and models of vehicles. You will also need to be familiar with AllData and have your own tools including a diagnostic scan tool.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform general repair and replacement services which includes brakes, wheel alignment, struts and suspension, engine performance (tune-ups), fuel systems, cruise control, exhaust systems, fluid and filter service, heating and cooling systems, air conditioning systems, drive train, and specialty installation
- Tear down, repair, and rebuild faulty assemblies such as power systems, steering systems, and linkages
- Disassemble units and inspect for parts wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels
- Repair manual and automatic transmissions
- Repair radiator leaks
- Perform four wheel and two wheel alignments
- Use protective equipment when operating machinery and manual working tools
- Attend and participate in store meetings
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Comply with OSHA and EPA polices
Requirements include:
- Preferred ASE Master and/or L1 Certified
- 3 ASE Certifications at a minimum for a Lead Tech or an A Tech
- Have your own tools including a diagnostic scan tool
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers, associates, and management
- General understanding of the hood, mechanical and under carriage assemblies
- Must have experience using standard/metric wrench, screwdrivers, socket sets, hammer, alignment toe hooks, air hammer, tape measure, vise grips, oil filter tools, among others
- Must be reliable and able to work a flexible schedule depending on business needs
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company and customer vehicles
- Ability to stand for eight (8) to ten (10) hours per day
